Privacy Policy

DRAFT written from how SOCCER ARENA processes data. It must be reviewed by the publisher's lawyer (including against Tanzania's Personal Data Protection Act, 2022) before launch.

What we collect

  • Account: full name, username, email, optional phone number, a hashed password, your consent version and date, and whether you confirmed you're 13 or older.
  • Sign-in with Google or Apple: the account identifier and email those services share with us.
  • Activity: teams and competitions you follow, likes, bookmarks, replies, reposts, poll votes, predictions, reports you make and accounts you block.
  • Views: when a post is on screen we count one view per person per post per day. Guests are counted with a random device ID and a one-way hash of the IP address.
  • Devices and sessions: device name, platform, app version, approximate city and IP address for each signed-in session, and a push notification token if you allow notifications.
  • Notification settings: which alerts you want, quiet hours and time zone.

How we use it

To run your account, show scores and news for the teams you follow, send the alerts you chose, count views accurately, run free predictions and leaderboards, keep the community safe, and secure the service (for example rate limits and sign-in protection).

Who we share it with

We use service providers who process data for us: an email provider and Beem Africa (to send sign-in and reset codes), Google Firebase Cloud Messaging (to deliver push notifications), our cloud hosting and storage provider, and Anthropic (Claude) to help moderators pre-screen reported content. Live football data comes from API-Football; we don't send them your personal data. Highlights are YouTube embeds, and YouTube may set its own cookies when you play a video. We don't sell personal data and we don't show ads.

How long we keep it

When you delete your account we hide your profile immediately, show your replies as "Deleted user", sign out all devices and remove push tokens. Personal data is permanently deleted 30 days later. We keep security and moderation records (such as audit logs) for as long as needed for legal and safety reasons.

Your choices and rights

You can view and change your profile, notification settings, linked accounts and sessions in the app, block people, and delete your account in the app or at soccerarena.org/delete-account. To ask for a copy of your data or raise a privacy question, see Contact.

Children

SOCCER ARENA is not for children under 13. If you think a child under 13 has an account, contact us and we'll delete it.
